Why “@WaterClaire”? The Twitter name behind Claire Elise Gonzalez
According to Chinese Astrology, This year, 2012 is the year of the Water Dragon or Black Water Dragon. Chinese astrology and mythology say that 2012 should be a great year. Renewal, good fortune, good year to start relationships, good year to be born. The idea is that this year is not only a good year because it is a Dragon year, but also because it is a Water Dragon Year. The last one that happened was 1952.
So we picked up the name Waterclaire for Twitter because of this. Water Dragon, then Claire and so Waterclaire came about. Also, people asked me why not something like @Babyclaire, or @ClaireBear, or @eClaire. All of these are great names, but I wanted a name that would be valid past her baby years and cutesy baby names. When she’s old enough (and if Twitter is still around) she can change it to whatever she wants.
As far as the Chinese Astrology background, I (Dad) doesn’t fully believe in this, but I believe in interconnectedness. Mom in the other hand is a little more superstitious. I do feel a great energy around this baby and we can only hope for the best. Wish us and Claire luck. We’ll need it.
Great explanation of WaterClaire name!
This picture of the Dragon with Claire is fantastic, I love it!!!!
